Nicol Bolas Full
According to MTG Salvation Nicol bolas will look like this...

        Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker - 4UBBR
        +3: Destroy target noncreature permanent.
-2: Gain control of target creature.

-9: Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker deals 7 damage to target player. That player discards seven cards, then sacrifices seven permanents.

        5 (starting loyalty)

That's a pretty nasty ultimate ability. What does everyone else think?

Doesn't Sarkhan Vol have that exact same -2 ability? Or is Bolas not just until end of turn? That last ability with the seven permanents will be devastating if it resolves.

Bolas appears to be take creature permanently. And like I said earlier it should just say "-9 Win the game" Also this is 1 of 2? ultimates that allow the planeswalker to live if executed as soon as possible.

It's better than Cruel Ultimatum, by far. I wouldn't mind running both in the same deck......
Cast a Cruel Ultimatum and next turn cast Nicol Bolas. If you don't win after that, then you should quit playing Magic. lol
I really think it makes 5c Control better. It's hard to imagine that 5c could become better, but I think it will be, with the addition of these cool new cards.

the only problem I see with Nicol in the 5cc is that its effect isn't "This turn" and you will invariable be tapped out. If he hits after an ultimatum then yes, he should be fine and very painful. But after an ultimtum almost anything is deadly.
If you have to wait till turn 12-15 to play him so you have extra mana open for counter spells then he seems a little excessive.

I suppose putting one in the deck couldn't hurt.

He is, in my opinion, the most powerful planeswalker to date. Him and Ajani Vengeant are pretty ruthless. He could go very well in a planeswalker control deck, with only 1 or 2 copies of him in there. :)

Ajani vengant by far is the better planeswalker. Bolas costs way to much to be effective, and if you can both keep him around long enough to go ultimate or resolve him in the first place, than your board position is so good that you have probably won the game already. Vengant, on the other hand, comes down much sooner and has an immediate effect on the board. And vengants ultimate ability isnt much worse than bolas anyway. Trust me, ajani is the better card by far.

To be a dick, I didn't say that Nicol Bolas was better than Ajani, I said more powerful, and that is true. Overall playability, however is different than power, in my opinion. If I'm wrong about that, oh well.

Nicol Bolas will only be a 1-of or maybe a 2-of in some control decks. The problem is that those control decks have very few open slots available. He is going to have the "Sarkhan Vol Syndrome." So much hype, but not a lot of play.

Thats probably true, pennydude. Although it would be fun to destroy your opponents with Nicol Bolas, it probably isn't worth the time. He would be truly devestating, though.

For that much mana I think I would rather cast Cruel Ultimatum.
