| The newest deck |         In my last post, i said that i was going to try to create some " buget decks " to try to show that cheap decks might be able to compete with the big decks. Please let me know what you guys think.                           This is the first deck =                   4 seaside citadel, 4 treetop village, 4 forest,          4 bant panorama, 6 island, 2 plains                   4 jhessian infiltrators          4 wiltleaf cavaliers          4 rhoxwarmonk          4 kitchenfinks          4 bantcharm          4 brokemambitions          3 negate          3 loxodonwarhammer          3 discombobulate          3 stoicangel                   The sideboard = 4 removesoul, 1 negate, 4 raking canopy, 3 oblivion ring, 3 wispmare.                            The plan with this deck is simple. Vs aggresive decks you gain life through warmonk, finks, and hammer and try to win with either stoicangel or infiltrator. Vs control you play just enough threats to hold the board and use your countermagic to protect your threats. In any match, if you can get infiltrator equiped with a hammer, then you are in good shape. Here is the plan vs specific decks =                   Faeries = Game 1 you have both negate and ambitions to protect vs bitterblossom. If they land blossom or not your plan should be to race. Boards they will bring in infest, so you should trade your infiltrators for raking canopys. You will also need wispmare, probably taking out 2 loxwarhammer and 1 stioc angel.                   5 c control = Thier plan is to sweep the board with wrath or pyroclasum / firespout and to later win with big dudes. So in this match it is simple, do not let their removal resolve. Your creatures backed up with warhammer / bantcharm are better ( if they land cloudthresher your going to call me a liar, however ). Game 2 you should lose the stoic angels for remove soul. This gives you a better chance to stop their big dudes and buys you time to win with your guys. If you think that they have vexing shusher, take out loxodon warhammer to add in o-ring to deal. You cannot alloe shusher to stay in play aginst you.                   Red/white revillark ( boat brew ) = In this macthup you are the control deck, and you should play like it. The general plan is to get as much life gain as possible and to try to win through infiltrator / warhammer. If at all possible stop revillark and seigegang commander from resolving. Game 2 you should bring in 4 remove soul for 3 negate and 1 broken ambitions. If they play planeswalkers ( most of these decks play some combination of elspeth / ajani vengant ) you should bring in 3 o-rings for 3 broken ambitions. But if you can keep revillark and seigegang commander out of play and keep the planeswalkers under control, you have a chance in this match.                   I have to go for now, but i will return soon to finish baord advice and to see what you guys think. As always, thanks for listening. |

|         Pretty cool deck. Inexpensive. Good aggro and control.
Pwn'd. |

|         The Negate and Broken Ambitions only stop Bitterblossm if you go first, however. You also have to hope they don't get Thoughtseized.

|         Thanks for your imput guys. Chances are, negate and ambitions might not stop blossom, but at least you have these options. I like this bant deck because it is efficient and because it plays cheap but effective cards. Someone could build this deck from nothing for about 40 to 65 bucks. And the good news is that the deck could seriously improve with more money. Imagine cloudthresher, cryptic command, and glenalandra archmage. With those cards and some better nonbasics, i think this deck could be a contender. |

|         I like Bant also. I'm a fan of Rafiq the Many. I wonder if he would fit in here. Rafiq is a mythic rare, but he only goes for 5 to 6 dollars.

|         That's probably as much as Martin sells it for. They're pushing more than 10 bucks online. |

|         I think I sold the only two I ever had for $7 each.

|         I just bought a 4 set of them on EBay for $24.50.

|         Rafiq would be amazing in this deck, but i went with stoic angel for 2 reasons. First, i belive that stoic angel would be both cheaper and easier to find than rafiq. Second, i new that faeries would be a very difficult match. I think that stoic is better vs the fae than rafiq. Stoic survives agony warp and , if you can keep it in play, can limit the damage that bitterblossom does to you. I know that cryptic can ruin all of these plans, but you have to try to better a bad matchup in anyway possible. I belive that stoic does this. |

|         You are probably right about the faeries matchup. Stoic Angel does seem like a good choice for stopping hordes of Bitterblossom tokens, and it is Agony Warp resistant.
