Full Box Tournament
Do all the full box tournaments have to be Extended? Would it be possible to do something different each month by cyling through formats. I would like to see Standard and Block added to the mix. Extended still seems to be many people's least favorite format (myself included).

I can switch off to Standard every other month but last Extended we drew 15 people and for Standard recently we only get 8-10 so I was encouraged with Extended last time. I wouldn't mind even doing a Legacy box tournament but I doubt we would get more than maybe 10 people for that. The week after that is the all-rare sealed deck for 2 boxes so if you really hate Extended I guess you can wait for that one. In March I will try Standard for a box tournament, by then everyone will have plenty of time to work in Conflux to their Standard decks.

Block is a good idea for a box tournament and once people have a chance to get some Conflux cards I may try that format for a box tournament in March.

Oh and the Extended on Feb.21st is sanctioned this time so if you like those DCI points here is your chance to get more than on FNM tournaments.

Extended is almost as bad as Type 1.

Maybe i am wrong, but i dont have a problem with extended or legacy. Both are incredibly diverse formats where many decks can compete and win. My only problem with vintage is how expensive it is to compete. So my question to you is what dont you like about these formats?

Legacy is also just as bad as Type 1.

But why is it bad? What dont you guys like about these formats? I mean they seem fine to me, expecially extended.

I like Vintage, Legacy, Standard, and block, but I have never really liked Extended. I did somewhat enjoy the fact that Wizards allowed you to keep playing the real dual-lands (Taiga, Savannah, etc.) in Extended long after Revised had rotated out, but it has always seemed like the least enjoyable format to me. In my view, Extnded combines the worst apsects of Standard and Eternal formats. You have a few older cards that form the backbone of any decks, but you have a much smaller pool of cards to work with. You basically get the same decks over and over again, modified to add a few cards from the newest sets, but you have a much smaller and less diverse pool of cards to work with than in Legacy/Eternal. To me, Extended simply seems like Standard that never rotates.
The recent rotating out of Invasion seemed to help a little but not much. I would like to see one set rotate out of Extended every time a new set rotated in. This would make for a much more dynamic and less stale environment. I just seem to feel that if I want to play with older cards I would prefer to play Legacy and play with a much larger pool of older (and better) cards. If I want to play with newer cards, I would prefer to play Standard, where the card pool rotates more rapidly. I have no problem with doing one Extneded per month on Saturdays, but I would simply prefer that the full box tournaments at the end of the month rotate between various formats (including, but not limited to, Extended).
