| I can see why they want to clear up the confusion. Playing with newer players and trying to get them to grasp the concept is difficult sometimes. However I think that just renaming the zones isn't going to fix this problem. There will still be lots of game play problems and we will just be answering them with different naming conventions.
So as an old schooler who hates change..... I hate change!

| I know I am a long time player that resists change as well but I think this is just silly. Are they trying to discern the difference playing something and something being in play.
Also casting creatures sounds icky. If they do go back to summoning counterspells are gonna be worded so awkwardly, Counter target summon or cast spell
Just say play you only have to explain it two to three times to someone. I honestly would become turned off as a new player if I heard the term cast being thrown around sounds kinda nerdy and you dont want to get pulled into that

| Guess I could be alone on this one! While I think renaming the "in-play" zone the Battlefield could be a little cheesy, I do like the flavor of it. I LOVE that spells will be cast instead of played. I also think the removed from game zone being renamed will be cool because a) It's less wordy b) it's more flavorful, and c) it could open up some design space for the creative team. All you stubborn bastards will get used to the change just like everything else wizards has ever done.

| I'm with Josh. It is extremely cheesy, but it seems like it would be a lot easier to understand if you were a new player. It would also be a lot easier to determine when spells are on the stack or in play, er, I mean, cast and on the battlefield. LOL

| I think they are really trying to make it easier for beginners to "get" the flavor and rules of the game and from my standpoint it doesn't bother me too much but I wasn't playing the game until Onslaught came out.
