Champion
I know this has probably already been discussed, and I probably know the outcome, but I would like to know about Mistbind Clique and Championing something.
Say my opponent plays Mistbind Clique.
It comes into play, and the Champion goes on the stack.
If, say, I Path to Exile the Mistbind Clique before it champions, does a Faerie get removed from the game and never come back, and my lands become tapped?

The Mistbind Clique does not have to champion anything in your case. When you play Path to Exile while the "champion" ability is on the stack, your opponent can choose not to champion anything. If that happens, then your lands are not tapped. If they do champion a Faerie, the "tap lands" trigger will not happen because the Mistbind Clique will not be in play at the time the trigger would occur and the championed Faerie will not return to play. In a nutshell, in your example, your lands would not become tapped if they do decide to champion a Faerie, which would be stupid.

The champion ability does not require a target, so choosing a creature to remove from the game does not occur until the champion ability sucessfully resolves.

Correct, but they would not want to champion a Faerie in this case.

So killing a Mistbind Clique with the Champion on the stack is the optimal thing to do?

No, champion says they may or scarifice the clique. So they just dont remove anything. The best strategy would be to eliminate all legal creatures that could be championed.

Killing it with the ability on the stack is the best way to avoid having your lands become tapped, short of killing all possible champion targets before the Mistbind Clique resolves.
