| Martin |         I know you had a Faerie deck built at one time and I was just wondering if you still had the majority of the cards for it. I am needing 2 Mistbind Clique, 4 Spellstutter Sprite, 2 Faerie Conclave, 1 Cascade Bluffs, 1 Terror, and 3 Swerve.

|         Yes on most of those items, I may be using the Cliques, Sprites and Faerie Conclave tonight. Can you guess what I'm running?

|         Penny Dude, stop crying because Faeries is getting played. Play to beat it then. You know it's going to be there, so play Fallouts, Threshers, Paths, Terrors, Esper Charm, etc. Just to let you know, I am NOT running Faeries tonight, so you won't have to worry about multiple Faerie decks running amock. And anyways, wouldn't you want your original decks to be able to beat Faeries? Why would you complain about playing a matchup that you need to be able to win in order to call your deck competitive? You need to stop this whole "i'm going to show up only if I know i'm going to win" philosophy. Every deck has matchups that it just cannot, and will never win. Just take a look at what Christian did. He knew I was playing 5CC, so he built a deck that smashed it's face in. Every deck has a deck that it just can't hardly beat. Faeries loses to mono-red a lot. Maybe you can play mono-red? If I were to complain about the redundancy of decks being played at the Horse, I would talk about Christian's R/W Lark, Bruce's Kithkin or G/W Beats, my Planeswalker Control, Martin's RDW, Martin's Fae, but I don't, because that leads to a situation in which I can forsee. I come into the Horse expecting to see one or multiples of those decks. What do I do? Oh yea, I PLAN TO BEAT THEM! Why do you think I ran Jund Charm over Volcanic Fallout in my Planeswalkers? Because I knew Christian was most likely playing Boat Brew. I changed my game plan, just as you need to change yours. I know being original is fun, especially when you do well with it, but you just CANNOT expect to win all the time with original decks.

|         Haha Pdude it's not what you think, I will post it later tonight so you can see it. It may not be totally original but it is not Blue/Black Faeries.

|         I have fun when I build my own decks and play them. I just don't like seeing the same decks every week. I don't like to netdeck, but I sometimes put a spin on one. I do like to win, but I also like to, you know, create something different or try to. I just like playing my own decks and not a pro's. |

|         I bet you a thousand dollars if I showed 20 people my new "Grixis Faeries" deck, that I actually built on my own knowledge without taking an actual net deck, 15 would simply call it "Faeries" because that is what it is. Whether or not it has red in it for Banefire, Swerve, or Wild Ricochet is irrelevant. What you seem like you are saying is that the players who consistently play the same decks need to be punished. I'm going to play the decks that win. Those decks are the pro's decks. You really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really need to stop focusing on what other people want to do and start focusing on what you need to do. You want to play original decks. Good for you. Stop complaining about those players that play decks consistently because they want to win. Really. Have you ever stopped to think that those people who play those decks over and over again play them because they are familiar with them and would play a different deck poorly? Have you ever thought that maybe thats the only deck that someone can afford, or build? Have you ever thought that the game of Magic that you play is entirely different from the one that drives other players to play? I don't care one little bit about what decks other people are playing. I care about how I'm wanting to dominate the game. I care about how my deck matchups with other decks. I care about what I have control over, and not at all what I can't control.

|         (Sarcasm) And no, it's not a netdeck because I didn't look online for the list. I hate netdeckers and the people who play them.

|         I know I'm talking to myself, but I want players to play the best decks. I want to be challenged. I don't want to completely roll someone in a game. I want to be able to lose every game that I play. I want to be punished for my mistakes.

|         The way I see it, you don't like my original decks because, as you said before, originality = loss. Do they not challenge you? It seems to me that you want me to net-deck because you want a challenge. If I took this the wrong way, I apologize, but this is what I think. |

|         If you can point out where I said I don't like your original decks, then please do so. What I am meaning to say, however, is that some, not all, of the decks that you play have been easy to beat. I am not trying to make that point, however. The point I am trying to make is refrain from complaining about the same decks being played over and over again. If anything, it is an advantage for you.

|         Complaining about redundant decks is like complaining about the Standard metagame. You may not like it, but there isn't a single thing you can do to change it besides have patience and wait for new sets.

|         I can see both of Ben's and Pdude's points and I think it comes down to whether or not you want to play for competition or more just for fun and I know "winning is fun" but I can't bring myself to play the same deck every week (not even burn or discard) as that would bore me to tears. I will say that if someone plays the same deck over and over again you can build to beat it and still build a fun deck to play but of course you may lose to other decks but that is part of the fun of magic, there isn't just one deck that beats every other deck 100% of the time.

|         Speaking of EDH, is anyone interested in EDH on April 18th Saturday at 2p.m.? I did have a 1.5 peasant for that time but I didn't get to play EDH last time and it seemed ok to me.

|         Knowing what decks to prepare for makes winning a lot easier. I find a lot of my losses come to "random" homebrew decks, or second and third tier net decks that I have not practiced against or tuned my deck to beat. I am always perfectly happy to see the same decks repeatedly.
