And..
Does anyone else wonder why the "Named" Zendikar Lands are not Legendary?

        Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle
        Magosi, The Waterveil
        etc.

Unless in the world of Zendikar it is common to name many things the same name.

Are there really effects or abilites on those lands that warrant them to be legendary?

Legendary should have 100% to do with being named, and not effects. I have seen some pretty shitty legends printed in the past. I am not complaining about power or card value or anything like that. Just trying to find that "game flavor" continuity that wizards is so concerned about.

This is not the first time. The artifact lands were no legendary either and they were specific places.

I'm partially on board Tim. But it is possible that there could be multiple "Great Furnaces" on the landscape of Mirrodin. Not sure about "Seat of Synod" as that seems more specific. But these don't have the actual Name such as "Kyle, the great furnace" or "Blaine, the Seat of Synod" which the New Zendikar lands do.

True, but the falvor text DID call them by name.

Couple other examples: Planeshift Lair lands and the Ravnica Block uncommon guild land such as Skargg, the Rage pits.

I agree thought that legendary shoud have to do with being named but I do not see it happening as oft as it should.
