New Sarkhan
The new Sarkhan is on Wizards site today and on gathering. Sarkhan the Mad, interesting card with no + abilities.

He looks fairly limited. The card draw ability could be used in conjunction with Halimar Depths or something like that. Still sucks you can only do it once per turn though. Seems the most promising ability is the -2, which is potentially pretty sick as long as you have dudes you don't mind sacking - or you would rather your opponent had a 5/5 flyer with no abilities vs. a Walletslayer.

Once again, Sarkhan gets the shaft. He may turn out to be good, and playable, and I may be wrong about this. I predict he doesn't see any play in tournament winning decks. Mana cost plus crappy abilities make him not worthwhile. Why spend 5 mana to get a 5/5 dragon, when you can spend 6 mana to get 2 4/4's?

I guess you could run them next to each other in the same deck, but still, you better have a hella early game.

I see it as maybe a 1 of in a Grixis list. Being able to turn something big dumb and inconsiderate, like a Baneslayer, or maybe even an Eldrazi dude into a 5/5 flyer that can either be bounced into oblivion by a Jace, or even Smothered doesn't seem too bad...

This was on Evan Erwin's "The Magic Show", so I'm 100% sure it's correct.

True. But ughhh, what about those times when you don't have the removal? Then he becomes really bad. Pay 5 mana to draw a card. YAY!

Bottom line is: I don't want to play cards that HAVE to rely on other cards to be good.

On thinking about this guy a little more, he does fit into Jund kinda nicely as a 1 or 2 of. Turning Thrinax, Leeches, and Thrinax tokens into 5/5 dragons seems kinda nice.

Doesn't Bloodbraid Elf rely on other cards to be good? Without good cards to cascade into he is basically just a 3/2 haste creature for 4 mana, which isn't too exciting.
