| Winning/loosing in 2 or 3... |         Greetings guys, I'm new to the tourny scene and was wondering a few things about placing and DCI pts.                  Does winning or loosing a match in 2 or 3 games reflect upon your DCI score (ex: winning a match in 2 games rather than 3 will raise your points a bit more)?                   Also, from what I've noticed placing is solely based upon your win-loss ratio of the night per match, not on games won or lost during a match.                  Ex: Subject A went 4 matches and lost 3 @ 3 games each. Subject B has the same win/loss ratio but got swept on all 3 losses @ 2 games each. They're still 1-3-0 so they both fall into relatively the same place. Correct?                  Thanks ahead of time for your help and sorry for the ridiculously large example.                                    Brad~

|         The only thing that actually affects your DCI rating is winning or losing the match, it doesn't matter if you won one game if you lost the match you will lose a few DCI points. Also as far as tie-breakers go the first and most important tie-breaker on the DCI Reporter computer program is your opponents match win/loss percentage. For example player A ends up 2-2 after 4 rds. as does player B but all of player A's opponents end with 3-1 records and player B's opponents all finished at 2-2 then player A will have better tie-breakers than player B. Now if both players played the exact same opponents then the second tie-breaker is their opponents game win/loss percentage I believe and the third tie-breaker is their own game win/loss percentage. It seldom goes past that first tie-breaker honestly so what really matters is your opponents match win/loss records.

|         Scratches head...LOL Sounds all "math-like" to me.                 In short, does this mean:                 It does not matter if I win in two or three for DCI points.                 It only matters if I win in two instead of three for tie breakers the night of the match. Lets say Brad and I both win all our matches (I know...I know...but this is fantasy right...lol)                 I won all mine in two. He won all his in 3. We both played 4 rounds with no byes.                 I would be in a better place rank wise than Brad...right....even though we won the same amount of matches...I did it in fewer games? Is this right?                 How does a bye affect this?

|         It matters how your opponenets did first.                 It may eventually matter your own game win/loss, but that is not the first tie breaker.

|         Only match wins and losses affect DCI ratings; game wins and losses are irrelevant.         Game wins and losses can matter as tiebreakers, but they are of only tertiary importance. Opponents win/loss percentage is the most important tiebreaker. Other tiebreakers, such as games won/lost, are only used if tow players have the same opponents win/loss percentage. For example, if two players are tied for 8th place, the computer compares each players opponents' win loss percentage to determine who is 8th place and who is 9th place. If both players opponents' win loss percentage is the same, then games won/lost is used to determine which player gets 8th place.

|         The first tie-breaker is how your opponents match win/loss record is so what really matters is who you played and what their match win/loss records are.

|         Ok, I see now....sorry the last question I have...I think is:                 How does a BYE figure into this?                 Sorry, just curious as to how this works.

|         Here is some info about the bye: Your Op-Win% only counts the Win% of real opponents. It ignores rounds you had Byes when averaging up your Op-Win%. However, you do count your opponent's bye's as part of their Win%; thus, it can help you.                 In addition to this, after the first two rounds you will be playing people who have won at least 2 games from the very beginning which will probably help your Op-Win% as you don't have to worry about your first and round opponent just totally bombing you and screwing over your %.                 However, in the end, what matters most is how the people you played perform. You can always google DCI Reporter questions and learn more about it which if you want to become a judge I recommend you do.
