ROE/ROE/ROE
So everyone's opinions on the drafting format? Seems slower, but almost anything is viable. Can be pretty bomb intensive.

Drafting a bunch of Blue/White leveling guys when you actually have a Training Grounds in your draft pool seems good as both you and Steve have done very well with this strategy. I don't know if there is really a bad color strategy though, last night I went black/white but I had a fast deck with a lot of flying creatures and evasive creatures and removal like Consume the Meek to back it up. I think the only color that is kind of weak is red but there are still some bomb rares in red and decent removal like Staggershock.

         Blue/White Leverlers. Nuff said.
On the topic of the draft format, I think the same tendencies from any draft format in the past are still in play here. It's pretty much the same as any other format in my opinion.

If you go in expecting or try to force U/W Levelers, then you are going to get stomped 75% of the time. It seems like the most bomb intensive strategy by far. I also disagree with red being weak, as it is much stronger than it was previously in zindekar and has by far the best removal in the format.

Although red has the best removal, it certainly does not have the best creatures, in my opinion. And thats an incredibly retarded thing to do in forcing an archetype in draft. Although, bad players named Steve would probably try to pass me those cards anyways! J/K STEVE!

Thats why most decks play more than 1 color, Ben.

I think red has bad creatures in the common/uncommon slots but some bomb rares (that Manticore guy for one). All the other colors have good creatures in the common/uncommon slots and that is mostly what you are going to draft. But I agree with you Zack this is a fairly bomb intensive drafting set.

I don't agree with the bomb-intensive drafting set. I had 0 rares and went 5-0-2.

         Rares =/= Bombs.

I played Zack last night and my only rare in my deck was Consume the Meek which is good but Zack had both Training Grounds and Lightmine Field out against me in game one and it was those two cards (especially the Lightmine Field) that won him that game.

LSV had a really good article on the format on channelfireball.com today, actually is really helpful in explaining the diffrences and what to watch out for.

Let me tell you what..... Modo can lick a dick. I drafted what I thought was super removal deck. 2 heat ray, 1 Consuming vapors, 1 Corpse Hatch, 1 Disaster Radius, 1 Flame Slash, 1 Forked Bolt, 1 Surreal Memoirs, 2 Spawning breath, 2 Staggershock, 1 Vendetta, 2 last kiss, And a magmaw, with good creatues to fill in. Completely dominated the first game, and then got SUPER land flooded the next two.... With my only hope being drawing the disaster radius after land after land.... I hate Magic. Oh, and hate drafting the blue guy that gives everything 2 level counters is always a good idea. And training Grounds is always good.

Up in Bloomington, I went 2-1 in a draft playing U/B splash Sarkhan. Sphinx of Magosi is amazing in this format!! 3rd round, the guy had 2 Drana in his deck, so I couldn't win. On a sidenote, counterspells in draft are better than you think. I won 2 game because of Lay Bare.

Pennydude's description almost sounds like it was bomb intensive, Ben.

Yeah, Drana is by far the best draft card..... assuming you can draw her.

Bombs are important in RoE draft, as opposed to Zenikar, where big bombs tended to be pretty irrelevant.

Bombs always decide games. The fact that you are saying this format is more bomb-intensive is completely null and void with my going 5-0-2 with 0 rares. First time drafting the set, too. Rares don't equal bombs, either. Momentous Fall is hardly a bomb.

Not all rares are bombs of course and you are partially right about doing well with no rares as last time I only had one but some rares can change the course of a game such as Lightmine Field. Some commons are fairly bomb in this format such as Dawnglow Invoker as I had 2 of them last draft and they singlehandedly won me a few games.

Bombs are very good in this format. Yet, I lost every game I played Drana. Weird? I agree on the Dawnglow Invokers though. That little common can control the late game like nobody else.
